Bay State explores school safety options

A Texas man who wants to change the way schools respond to so-called “active-
shooter” scenarios has won supporters here in the Bay State, where two district
attorneys and school districts are listening to what he says about how to survive a shooting rampage.
“We don’t tell people what they have to do. We tell them what they can do to stay alive,” said
Greg Crane, president of Response Options in Dallas.
“You are not going to prevent these things from happening. There are always going to be people out there with evil intent. Our basic premise is, don’t stay inside with the danger. We don’t tell people to stay inside a burning building and wait for the firemen.”
